Gray seal Taken 5-12-12 Cape Ann Whale Watch is the area leader in educational whale watching tours—having conducted whale watching trips from Gloucester, Ma for over 34 years. Cape Ann Whale Watch, through with the Ocean Alliance CETA program (Cetacean Education Through Awareness), is the only whale watch company in the Northeast to feature a comprehensive educational program completely integrated into the whale watch.
Throughout the whale watching trip, on both the ride out to whales and the ride back in to Gloucester, our on-board educators will provide hands-on learning toolsfor both children and adults alike to learn more about the whales they will be observing, their ocean environment, and the threats that they face. In addition to providing something for both children and adults to do on the ride to and from the whales, this gives everyone on board the opportunity to take advantage of this unique educational opportunity and knowledgeable staff that a whale watch from Gloucester provides. We believe that education is the key to conservation, and that the fate of whales and their environment lies largely in the hands of our passengers. We hope that the combination of seeing these animals in their natural habitat as well as learning about them, will encourage people to work to preserve whales and
the ocean environment for the health of the whales as well as humans.

Boston is a popular spot for whale watching. Many people don’t realize that located just north of Boston is a town called Gloucester, MA. We feel this is the best place to whale watch in the Boston area. Where whales
are found year to year varies. Departing on a whale watching tour from Gloucester allows passengers
the opportunity to go to three potential feeding grounds to locate whales. Sometimes whales are found on Stellwagen Bank located off the entire coast of Massachusetts. Our tours also have the opportunity to go to Jeffreys Ledge, 8 miles from Gloucester, MA located off the New Hampshire and Maine coast. In the years the whales are not easily found on Stellwagen Bank, we can easily reach areas that are a bit far for the Boston whale watching tours. This is what makes Gloucester one of the best ports to whale watch out of.
